On September 30, 2002, the Archives of Ontario Microfilm
Interloan Service launched
AMIS (Archives Microfilm Interloan System), a new interloan
circulation and tracking system. This new system has been designed to
provide a more effective and efficient service for our customers and significantly
improve our ability to expedite your patrons requests. With on-line access
for our library partners and a completely new internal tracking system
we can provide a service that will provide quality service to all.
NEW!! How will
this affect your library or institution?
For those libraries and other borrowing institution that are outside of
the Southern and Northern Ontario Library system you will now be able
to do your business with us on-line. Through a password-protected
Web page you can, submit, cancel and renew microfilm requests, track loans,
the status of requests on hold and change contact information. By submitting
requests online, we will be able to process them more efficiently, provide
you with real-time information about your request and significantly improve
our service to you. If you are a member of SOLS or OLS-N you will continue
to do your on-line business with us as normal, the changes to the VDX
system will be invisible but our improved efficiencies will also be reflected
in our service to you.
Libraries and
Institutions other than within SOLS or OLS-N:
- Effective
September 30, 2002, submit your requests using AMIS on-line, available
on the Web. If you have borrowed film in the past, and have an active
interloan account with us, you will receive a username and password
by e-mail in the near future.
- New users can request an account on-line through AMIS. We will promptly
e-mail back your account information. Starting on Monday September 30,
2002, each institution or library will be able to choose its own username
and password through the Request an Account feature on AMIS. All libraries
and institutions must go through this registration process in order
to use AMIS, whether or not you have borrowed from us in the past. An
operator will review your submitted request and confirm via e-mail your
username and password within two business days.
- Please Note: As of September 30, 2002, we are no longer accepting
requests through AVISO as our system cannot process these types of requests.
Please use AMIS.
- If your library
does not have web access, requests can be sent by fax and regular mail.
However, we strongly encourage you to use AMIS and communicate with
us on-line for a more efficient and prompt service.
For Southern Ontario
Library Service (SOLS) and Ontario Library Service - North (OLS-N) Libraries:
- Continue to use the VDX system as normal by following the instructions
on the INFO
website. The changes will be completely seamless and transparent for
VDX users.
- Users unable to use VDX should submit requests via AMIS.
- Please use only one method to submit requests. If you normally use
VDX, it is important that you continue to do so. This will ensure that
you have only one place to check for the status of requests and that
the information we provide regarding your request is timely and accurate.
- For more information please contact the Archives of Ontario, SOLS
or OLS-N.
