 Golden monarchs
“In the Shuter-Yonge corner window (of Eaton's) stand life-size figures in gold of the King and Queen in their coronation robes, sculptured by Elizabeth Wynn Wood, A.R.C.A., S.S.C.* Two large open books, their parchment pages lettered in gold, bear a quotation from ‘Crowned King of England': The monarchy is unique because it is democratic. It has taken centuries to create this ideal. Brave men have died and kings have lost their lives while the gradual evolution of democracy continued until now the King stands as the guardian of liberty.”
