January 26, 27, 2006 -- The Ontario Provincial Police
presented a two-day forum titled "Aboriginal Initiatives - Building
Respectful Relationships."
March 8, 9, 2006 -- The Chiefs of Ontario, a coordinating body
for 134 First Nation communities in the province, presented a two-day
forum that dealt with issues that included land claims policy, the
criminal justice system, aboriginal occupations and relations between
aboriginals and the police.
The Inquiry invited the Ontario Provincial Police and the Chiefs of Ontario to organize these sessions. Their purpose was to hear each organization's unique, provincial perspective on Policy and Research issues.
