Iroquois

Confederation of First Nations (Cayuga, Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca, joined later by the Tuscarora) which, in the early 17th century, inhabited an area, predominantly south of Lake Ontario, extending from the St. Lawrence River to the south shore of Lake Erie. Following the American Revolution, the Mohawk and portions of the other confederate nations moved to the Kingston and Grand River areas in Upper Canada.
