Locations and Hours


The Archives of Ontario is located on Ian Macdonald Boulevard, near Keele Street, on the campus of York University.

The Archives of Ontario is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 5:00pm.

We also offer extended hours of service on Tuesdays and Thursdays to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Services available during these hours will include registration, assistance from reference archivists, access to self service microfilm, microfiche and finding aids, viewing of pre-ordered materials/records, and access to the exhibit gallery. Requests for materials/records, certifications, reproductions and copyright that are placed during extended hours will be processed on the next business day.

*PLEASE NOTE* During the construction of the York University subway station, there are detours between the Archives building and York Lanes (shopping mall and food court) and York Commons (TTC and GoTransit bus stops). Ian MacDonald Boulevard will be closed to traffic. For further information visit the York University Website.

 

Getting Here

We are situated in the heart of the York University main Keele campus just minutes away from Highways 400, 401 and 407.

Those making their way by car will find numerous parking lots and garages on campus.

Those planning to travel by public transit have multiple commuting options including: TTC, GO Transit and YRT/VIVA.

  • 106 York University from Downsview at non-peak times

  • Finch Station: Steeles 60C or 60F
  • Jane Station: Jane 35 E Express to York U
  • Keele Station: Keele 41 (41 B including Petrolia; 41 C including Steeles Ave via Murray Ross)

 

By GO Transit

  • Hwy 407 Express GO Bus Service: Hamilton - Burlington - Oakville - Mississauga - Bramalea - York University Common - Thornhill - Mount Joy - Scarborough - Pickering - Oshawa

  • Newmarket GO Bus Service: Newmarket - Aurora - King - Maple - York U Common

  • Meadowvale Express GO Bus Service: Meadowvale - York University

  • Bradford GO Train Service: Barrie - Bradford - East Gwillimbury - Newmarket - Aurora - King - Maple - York University - Union Stn. A free York shuttle transports passengers to/from the York Common to the York University GO Train Station.

 

By York Region Transit

  • Jane-Concord - Route 20: connections to Vaughan Mills Mall; Jane Street Industrial-Employment Corridor; Interchange Restaurants & Entertainment Complex; Ahmadiya Mosque; Paramount Canada's Wonderland (provided only during park operating season) and many other local destinations.

  • Woodbridge - York University 10 - Islington/Langstaff - Martin Grove/Woodbridge - Rutherford/Islington - Langstaff, south on Ansley Grove and Weston Road - Steeles - York University

From Highway 401

    Take Hwy. 401 to Keele Street
    Exit at Keele Street and go north
    Follow Keele Street north of Finch Avenue (the campus is on your left)
    Turn left at York Boulevard, north of Finch Avenue

From Highway 407

    Take Hwy. 407 to Keele Street
    Exit at Keele Street and go south
    Follow Keele Street south of Steeles Avenue (the campus is on your right)
    Turn onto the campus via York Boulevard, south of Steeles Avenue


From Highway 400 (southbound)

    Take Hwy. 400 south to Hwy. 7
    Exit onto Hwy. 7 and go east
    Follow Hwy. 7 east to Keele Street
    At Keele Street go south (the campus is on your right)
    Turn onto the campus at York Boulevard, south of Steeles Avenue


From Highway 400 (northbound)

    Take Hwy. 400 north to Steeles Avenue
