Researching Community and Municipal Records at the Archives of Ontario
The Archives of Ontario holds a variety of resources related to municipalities and Ontario communities. These records provide a wealth of information for genealogical researchers. The Archives has developed a variety of tools to assist with this type of family history research.
This course will:
Direct you to the numerous records held by the Archives containing genealogical information from municipal and community based records such as assessment and collectors’ rolls, census records and records documenting specific municipalities.
Provide you with the tools, tips and techniques on how to easily navigate these records.
Explain the intricacies of municipalities in Ontario and how they have changed over time.
