Grade 8 - History

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to create a campaign to encourage immigration to Canada. This will be a comparative assignment, where students will use period-appropriate media to encourage the arrival of new Canadians. They will create one piece of a campaign from the period 1850-1914, as well as a one piece that could be used today. Students will then examine the differences between the two time periods and to explore Canada’s needs over the past 100+ years.
