Lesson Plan: James Bay Treaty Turns 100

Purpose

To negotiate an agreement along the lines of the James Bay Treaty, 1905-06.

Strand: History - Communities: Local, National, and Global

Communities interact with one another through commerce, cultural exchanges, colonization and agreements. Students describe the characteristics of Aboriginal communities before and after contact with Europeans and analyze the significant effects of interactions between Aboriginal communities and the colonizers.
