Evaluating Wartime Posters: Were They Good Propaganda?
Grade 10 - History

Purpose

Students will evaluate three world war one posters and rank order them according to their effectiveness as wartime propaganda, using Aristotle's three techniques of persuasion - ethos, pathos and logos - as their criteria for evaluating the posters. Students then use these criteria to create their own effective piece of wartime propaganda in a poster form.
