In 1985, Hogbin received the Ontario Craft Council’s
John Mather Award. He has exhibited his work in Ontario,
New York, California, England,
and Australia.
The artist works almost exclusively in wood, using tools and
machinery that he has developed largely himself. Hogbin’s
imagery seems broadly linked to pre-existing forms, often those
that occur in nature.
Binary Spirit consists of poplar and walnut
blades that evolve from an abstract centre into birds in flight,
moving progressively higher and further from the wall...symbolizing
the spirit’s soaring in search of a higher plane of understanding.
