C. W. Jefferys is best known as an historical illustrator. This is due primarily to the large number of drawings and water colours produced, during the 1920s, as illustrations for history text books. Still in great demand today by scholars and publishers, Jefferys's animated scenes represent many of the important events in Canada's early history. In the Battle of Lundy's Lane he depicts one of the most crucial battles of the War of 1812.
