If you are unable to answer your research question using our website, you may wish to send us an enquiry. No matter what your information need, it is often best to contact the Archives in advance of making your first visit.
Our staff can then:
- Advise you whether there may be records at the Archives relating to your
enquiry.
- Explain how you can access the records you need.
- Advise you whether the records you require are stored on-site (retrieved hourly) or whether
they have to be called in from another building (retrieval time: 2-3 days). If you know which boxes you
need, these can be ordered prior to your visit.
- If we do not have records relating to your enquiry we may be able to refer
you to another archives or institution that can help you.
Due to limited resources, Archives staff cannot conduct detailed searches for
you. However, we can tell you whether we hold records that are relevant to your enquiry or advise you about possible alternative sources.
