About the library

Our library, officially called the J.J. Talman Library, is open to all researchers.

The primary focus of our library is to enhance staff and researchers’ understanding of our archival holdings and Ontario’s diverse history more broadly.

The library also maintains a comprehensive collection of publications from the Government of Ontario.

What the library has

We have over 86,000 items in our library in print, digital and microform formats, including:

  • academic books
  • rare books
  • local histories
  • pamphlets
  • Ontario Government publications
  • other printed and published items

How to use the library

You can access library items in person in the Reading Room (see our hours and location).
