Eastern District fonds (F 1638)

Road Reports, Road Petitions, School Petitions and Miscellaneous Papers concerning roads, schools, and finances in 1814-1850.

Road Reports were compiled by the Superintendents of Roads, and by the Surveyors of Roads for the various townships of the Eastern District. A few were compiled by the Committee on Roads of the Municipal Council, has been arranged by townships, numbered, and microfilmed numerically.

Road Petitions deal in the main with roads between concessions, roads through concessions, roads between lots, or farm access roads, has been arranged by townships, numbered, and microfilmed numerically.

School Petitions were presented by school trustees, school teachers, individuals, or groups of individuals, to the Court of Quarter Sessions or the Municipal Council, has been arranged by townships, numbered, and microfilmed numerically.

Miscellaneous material concerning roads is a small division, has been arranged chronologically, numbered and microfilmed numerically. The miscellaneous education material likewise has no outstanding characteristic. This material has been placed at the end of the School Petitions, has been arranged chronologically, numbered, and microfilmed numerically.
