F 24-1 -Cartwright Family chronological records

Series consists of deeds, tax receipts, wills, correspondence receipts, mortgages, agreements, bonds, statements of expenditures and revenues, and other miscellaneous items. The earliest documents deal almost exclusively with property transactions, especially those by Richard and John Solomon Cartwright. Correspondence appears more frequently in the 1840's. Beginning in the early 1860's, the records deal entirely with the life and career of Sir Richard Cartwright. There is a great deal of correspondence relating to his political career with such individuals as Sir John A. Macdonald, Alexander Mackenzie, Edward Blake, and Mackenzie Bowell.

The series is arranged chronologically, with the undated documents filed at the end of the series.

Researchers are strongly recommended to consult the calendar of the correspondence, which has been microfilmed on self-service reel MS 1987. Once you have located the material of interest, consult the on-line listing to determine which microfilm reels to request.
