Search By Browsing Record Creators

This search option allows you to browse an alphabetical list of the people, organizations and Ontario government offices that have created groups of archival records.

Archival records are organized into groups according to the person, organization or Ontario government office that created or accumulated them. For more information see How Archival Records Are Organized.

To browse the list:

  1. use the scroll bar on the right hand side or choose the letter of the alphabet that you wish to browse
  2. highlight a person, organization or government of Ontario office by clicking on a name
  3. click on the “View this Record Creator” button to go to a description of that person, group or government office. This description will link to any archival records created by that person, group or office.

Alphabetized List of Record Creators

Search Tips:

  • People are listed by their last name. For example Oliver Hammond would appear in the list as HAMMOND, OLIVER.

  • government departments were known as “Departments” until 1972 and as “Ministries” after that date. Therefore, many government of Ontario offices appear in the list under the letters “D” or “M”.

  • if you are uncertain about the exact name of an organization or government department, you may also do a keyword search on Records Creators.
